UTOPIA ENTERTAINMENT PROVIDES HOLIDAY MAGIC FOR THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS

January 15, 2007 – Utopia Entertainment and the City of Beverly Hills, California proclaimed “Deck the Hills” this holiday season and carried out their mission to do just that.

“We were approached by the City of Beverly Hills to pull the community together in an attempt to present a single, cohesive holiday plan,” states Norman Kahn, CEO of Utopia Entertainment. “The goal was to create a themed, seasonal presence throughout the Beverly Hills shopping district, which includes one of the most famous retail streets in the world, Rodeo Drive.”

The plan was to develop a single theme spread throughout the three major shopping zones of the city and included the new scheme of Rat Pack inspired coolness and a hip look at the holidays. Over 600 colorful and kitschy banners, lighted archways over Wilshire Blvd., a wireless audio system delivering smooth Yuletide tunes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and others, and holiday décor glimmering amongst the palm trees and Bentley’s, were just a few of the themed elements created for the season.

Selected buildings were draped with fabric bows, palm trees were wrapped in miniature lights, and a brand-new Santa (with his sleigh and reindeer) was suspended high above the corner of Wilshire and South Beverly Drive.

Kathy Smits, the Director of the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, stated, “Utopia Entertainment really helped to create a unified vision and overall plan that incorporated the key elements of the season with the desires of the merchants. It was such a pleasure to have a single company create and manage the entire project.”

Utopia was also selected to produce the South Beverly Block Party which included live entertainment, a speech by Mayor, Stephen Webb, and a performance by the stars of the smash Broadway spectacle, “Wicked,” which is opening in LA in February 2007.

“We used over 300,000 lights to transform these streets into a holiday wonderland and the response from the public has been wonderful,” stated Brian Kivlen, Project Manager for the event. “We also provided street entertainment in the form of musicians, sidewalk artists, caricature artists, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus (located at the Museum of TV & Radio). All of which were a huge hit with the families.”

“Deck the Hills” ran from November 18 to January 5 and will return next year. Utopia states that the city hopes to continue to add to the special holiday offerings throughout the years and looks forward to celebrating the season with Beverly Hills again.
